From Allenport to Monongahela City, our model railroad has an interurban line running parallel to the Pennsylvania mainline on the top deck of the layout. Here are a couple pictures of this single track system meandering through the towns and countryside. You can follow the track along the map of upper deck of the layout, shown as trolley lines in orange color.

As a short passenger local heads out of Denbo, an interurban trolley is coming out of a tunnel on a parallel track. The trolley is at the beginning of its travels on the way to Monongahela City.

A more antiquated trolley is heading south, just passing through Denbo before reaching Allenport.

At the end of the line, a trolley waiting to start its run just south of the first trolley pickup station, located behind the Pennsylvania Railroad VY tower in Allenport.

A distinct advantage of trolleys over trains is that trolleys can get closer to their passengers with street running tracks. Here a trolley is working the main street in Monongahela City.

A small trolley barn is located in Allenport to the side of the passenger line along the main street. This barn can only perform light maintenance activities on the trolleys.
