About Us

Roundhouse Thomas

The Mid-Monogahela Valley Model Railroad Club (a.k.a. MMVMRRC) is a group of model railroaders who come together weekly, like many model railroad organizations across the world, dedicated to the preservation and perpetuation of the art and craft of model railroading. We are a small group, comparatively, but we are lucky to have a permanent location in New Eagle, Pennsylvania for our meetings and for housing our club HO scale layout. It is a working laboratory where members come to learn and enhance their own modeling skills in the art.

Our group number is about a dozen most of the time and we are a diverse group, many of whom have worked for the real railroads and bring real life railroading experience to the organization. We have members who focus on steam locomotives and railroad operations prior to the 1950s in the U.S. Other members prefer to model current diesel and electric locomotives on the railroads of today. The collective interests of the group runs the gamut of all things railroad related.

A key attribute of our group is that we are dedicated model railroaders. Our club is a “100% Club” as designated by the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA). This means that all members are required to be current NMRA members to belong to our club.

Members are all taught to operate our club layout and encouraged to bring their own HO scale equipment for operation on the layout, provided it meets basic requirements to make it compatible with our club equipment and control system. We participate in local and regional NMRA events. Members also have interests in various historical groups pertaining to railroads, steel making and our industrial heritage.

We encourage you to explore our web site. We continually strive to keep it up to date and to make it interesting. We also extend an invitation for any of you to look at our membership page and to come meet us in person at one of our weekly gatherings at the club or other advertised event. Check out our layouts section of this web site to learn about our two club layouts; our permanent HO scale layout and our portable modular display layouts that we take on the road with us. We look forward to meeting you….
